Every tattoo has a story. Your tattoo might signify a place in your life or a remembering of a past event but all tattoos mean something more to their owners, then just the picture.
Humankind has always been drawn to tattoos. Tattoos were and still are a way for us to distinguish ourselves from our peers. Tattoos have symbolized many things in different cultures but ultimately they are the best form of self-expression.
But when did humankind’s obsession with tattooing begin?
The origins of the name Tattoo can be traced to the Tahitian word “tatu”, which means to mark something and in this application it is the human skin. Archeologists have been able to trace Tattoos back in our history to 12,000 BC. This would indicate that we have always had a fascination with marking our bodies. But what is interesting is, what these “markings” represent; the story behind what the picture tells. In some society’s tattoos indicated that the wearer of these marks was a shaman or other religious figure but most modern society’s have associated tattoo’s with a negative stereotype. This could not be farther from the truth. Tattoos for most people are a way for them to express themselves and to mark a significant point in their life. This is why shows like Miami Ink and L.A. Ink have done so well. These shows on tattoos are reality television on people getting their tattoos and the story behind them.
In the 21 Century, tattooing has enjoyed a renaissance the likes of which has not been seen before. Tattooists are artist, displaying their talent on the ultimate canvass the human skin. And celebrities and the average person are lining up for their chance to distinguish themselves with their own mark.

Tattoos on the shoulder, how bad do they hurt?
This will be my first tattoo. It’s about the size of a cigarette pack and just an outline. I have no clue on my pain tolerance and I’m afraid of needles. I know it’s going to hurt, but how bad? Does anyone have an idea of the least painful shoulder, (left or right) or of another place that isn’t going to hurt as bad? Also, any tips for reducing pain would be of great help.

For me, the shoulder is one of the least painful places to get tattooed, and I have over 100 hours of tattoos and both shoulders are 100% covered in tattoos.
When the needle first touches the skin, it can be painful, for after about a minute, the pain subsides greatly. The key is to get through that minute. Just remain calm and still and focus on your breathing.

Tattoo of Angels or Angel wings?
I’ve been wanting for a long time to get a tattoo of an Angel or of Angel wings but I haven’t found a picture of one I like to go by, anybody seen any pretty ones for a woman?
It’s not that I want to copy a picture exactly or anything I’m just looking for ideas and pcitures as a starting point. My tattoo will be original I’m just looking for help with the creativity part.
I think angel wings would be better…
If you’re fairly good at drawing then search some pics and sort of sketch them out and alter them to be exactly as you’d like them to be.

Can I get the ball of my ankle tattooed?
The little bump part on the outside of my ankle. I know its bone, and I read somewhere that tattoos that are right on bone hurt like a bitch, but I’m wondering if I can even get it tattooed.
btw I want to get an earth tattooed on one ankle and a tiny line art dove on the other ankle.
You can tattoo practically anywhere you have skin. Tattoos over the bone do hurt, but its not as bad as you think it is. I like your tattoo concepts. But, it could go either way depending on the artist. Earth is a hard concept to draw up. Make sure you have an amazing artist to do it, so it looks fantastic. Good luck to you!

I am gonna have a Old English Lettering Tattoo, has anyone else had this tattoo and kno how much it costs?
I am getting a tattoo with 4 letters in Old English Font, Anyone else here had this before?? How much does it usually cost??
There’s no set cost on how much it will be, but most shops have a spending minimum on tattoos. Chances are, though, you’ll be charged between $20 and $40 per letter, depending on the size.

I’m getting small tattoos on both of my feet. When will I be able to comfortably wear socks and shoes?
I plan on getting them done on a Friday night, but would I be able to *comfortably* wear socks and shoes to work on Monday? Or should I take a few days off?
I would wait until any swelling goes down and for the scabbing process to be over before (which can take 5-12 day to happen after getting tattooed) you wear socks again but tattoos can take 4-6 weeks to fully heal. I would take a few days off from wearing socks and shoes if you can nd keep up with your after care instructions. If all else fails as your tattoo shop.

Bill got his eyebrow pierced when he was 12 / 13 and the tounge when he was 14, the tattoo on his nape when he was 15, the star when he was 16. The tattoo “Freiheit 89″ means “Freedom 89″ he got it because of his 18th birthday but he got it before because he said he wasn’t able any other day, and the last one he did it now that he’s 19 =)
In my point of view I think that he is really cool, in the other hand, I really don’t like his last tattoo, but I hope he is happy with it.
I don’t know about rules in Germany but I just know that he got almost all of his tattoos and piercings when he was underage ^^.
Also I will get my lip pierced and I’m 15 =]
